Small Streams Steelhead Mastery Class – Eagle Creek, OR

Join us for our Small Streams Steelhead Mastery Class on Eagle Creek for a hands on instruction to fishing small streams for steelhead.

Our Small Streams Steelhead Mastery Class teaches you why small streams can be a very productive place to catch steelhead and by learning to master the strategies for small streams you can often find excellent results.

In contrast to big rivers where steelhead can hold in a wide variety of locations – small streams present much smaller target zones for fish to hold in.  Those preferred pockets and slots of small streams where steelhead will be resting as the make their journey upriver can be easily read by the experienced eye.  We teach you where to look and how to present to fish in these spots.  Different than big rivers – small rivers can focus steelhead in specific spots making your fishing that much more targeted!

In the Eagle Creek Small Streams Steelhead Mastery Class you’ll learn how to read water, find where steelhead hold, what runs are good to swing and what runs are best with indicator rigs. This class gives you the game plan for success on small streams not only here but any small winter steelhead stream. In addition to learning the tactics you need for success we will also cover where to go. You’ll learn at least 5 good spots you can drive to and fish for years to come. Eagle Creek is relatively close to Portland, OR and is a tributary of the Clackamas River.

We show you how to tie it up, our specialized rigging for nymphing with indicators, how to set up for the swing with spey rods or switch rods, the knots, flies and set ups you need for success.  Sometimes a small difference in rigging and presentation is all you need adjust to get hooked up!

Eagle creek is a stream flowing from the cascade mountains with a wild rugged drainage which flows out of a wilderness area and is a tributary of the Clackamas River. This watershed drops and clears quickly and is often the best fishing option when other local rivers are blown out with winter storms. The best part of Eagle Creek is it gets a run of hatchery winter steelhead. We’ve scheduled these classes during the peak of the run, Feb-Mar are typically best here. These are healthy solid fish based on the wild broodstock of the Clackamas River basin. Coho are also found here in the fall.  Learn to master small streams with this class and bring new confidence to your fishing approach.

This class is limited to 6 anglers and fills fast.
